Rumors: 40K Flyer supplement cover leak?

The rumor mill keeps spinning and where it stops... no wait, there are some updates regarding the rumored flyer supplement for 40k. The cover as seen below appears to be fairly legit but until there is an official confirmation it is best to take the rumors with a grain of salt. The more pertinent question, based on the supposed contents of the book, is do we really need this? If we are not getting any  new flyers, and by that I mean for codecies which currently do not have them (Eldar, Tau, etc.), then will this really be worth it? Forgeworld released a book dedicated to flyers not too long ago. Having a similar book for the non-FW models seems more like an attempt to cash in on the major role flyers now play in 40k rather than providing something the game could use like getting the older codecies updated. Read on below and then let us know what you think!

My sources say this will be a 70 page "compendium". 

It will have updated 6th edition rules for flyers: 

Stormraven (now available to space marines and BT) 
Storm Talon 
Ork Bomba / dakka jet / burna bomba 
Valkyrie / vendetta 
Razorwing & Voide Raven 
Night Scythe / doom scythe 

also dog fighting rules from crusade of fire and a new flyers scenario. 
I'm told this book will be a range item and not a limited release.

This is not as exciting as people may think. I saw the advert for the book at a local store; It contains only rules for fliers still on sale or with a codex entry (the Dark Eldar bomber is in), some fliers have their rules updated to 6th edition (whatever this means exactly). The only thing actually new is, that the Stormraven is now available to Codex Space Marines and Black Templars as well. Also you will find the flier rules from Crusade of Fire and new missions. The book will be on sale (no pre-order) from 16th of February, is direct only (so not from your FLGS), english language only and will not be limited stock.

Imperial Guard: Vendettas

Hello all, Slick here. Today I have my finished Vendettas to share. These two complete my 'air force' for the Guard (for now) :)

The conversion kits were simple, easy to assemble and look the part. These two have already accounted for scores of dead Chaos marine vehicles :)

These will be getting resin bases from DragonForge Miniatures so I'm just leaving these as is for now.

News: Forgeworld Voss Pattern Fighter

Hello everyone, Slick here again with some Forgeworld news! More imperial flyers are on the way. The latest is the Voss Pattern Fighter is a variant of the Lightning and packs a quite a bit of firepower with a twin-linked lascannon and 6 hellstrike missiles! I like the mashup of wings and body from the various existing flyers. Is it worth adding to your forces though with so many plastic imperials flyers now available? Let us know what your thoughts are on this new kit!

Painting: Necrons (wip)

Slick here again with a hobby update. I recently started a Necron army and was eager to get underway with painting it up. I am starting with my flyers. - Only 2 so far! I'm going to paint my Necrons as the Nihilakh Dynasty. Below I have a few work in progress pics of my first Night/Doom Scythe. Let me know what you think!

Paint Station: Avenger Strike Fighter (wip)

Slick here with an update of what I am currently working on for 40K. I recently picked up the Avenger Strike fighter from Forgeworld and have been busy getting it painted up. Below is wip pic of where I am heading with the Avenger. I wanted to try out a dot cammo pattern and red is the color I am using for my various attack aircraft including a Vulture. As you can see this thing has quite a few guns: 2 lascannons, 2 autocannons, and the avenger gatling gun :)

40K: Avenger Strike Fighter

Slick here again with a hobby update. Today I'd like to share some updates on the Avenger Strike Fighter I recently added to my Imperial Guard forces.

Here are some pics of the assembled model. It has some elements of the Valkyrie/Vendetta kits while having a style of its own. It is also a bit larger than those models by a fair bit.

Here is a closeup of the business end of the model. Guns guns guns!!! This thing is called a strike fighter for a reason. The model comes standard with the avenger gatling cannon which is essentially a vulcan mega bolter-lite and a pair of lascannons (not twin-linked). I decided to keep it flexible and added a pair of autocannons to round out its offensive weaponry. It also has a heavy stubber facing the rear, yet with its S4 shots, it really isn't going to take down any flyers. Plus you'll be snap-firing it more often that not, so it's really just for show. Thus far, it has performed fairly well in 3 games, taking out various light/medium vehicles and punching through some infantry squads.
