Dystopian Legions: Prussian Tank In Progress

Recently I decided to expand my Dystopian Legions forces and what better way to do that than with the Walze Ironclad! Here is a work in progress pic of this might tank. As always, the quality of Spartan Games' resin sculpts is amazing. This is quite a heavy model with some solid chunks of resin. Let me know what you think of the paint job so far.

Eldar: 1850 List

Hey all, here is an Eldar list I have been working on. 1 Farseer goes into each Guardian blob and the Warlock accompanies the Farseer with the Shard. I gave it a run against a Marine/Tau list and ended up doing pretty well, scoring max objectives and only losing about 200 points or so. Let me know what you think of the list.

Farseer - Shard, Runes of Witnessing
Farseer - Spear, Runes of Witnessing
Warlock

20 Guardians w/2x Bright Lance Platforms

Forge World: Deimos Vindicator

The Deimos pattern is an early type of Vindicator used by the Space Marine Legions during the Great Crusade and the Horus Heresy, although many are still operational in the service of Space Marine Chapters in the 41st Millennium. A powerful assault tank, the Vindicator's principal armament is a heavy-calibre demolisher cannon capable of shattering fortifications and breaching the armour plates of tanks with equal ease. It is invaluable in urban warfare as it can blast and shunt its way through barricades and obstacles, enabling troops following behind free passage through streets that might have otherwise swiftly degenerated into kill zones.

For more information, check out the tank on the Forge World site:

Forge World: Sicarian Venator

Check out the new hotness from Forgeworld:

A variant of the Sicaran battle tank introduced towards the end of the Great Crusade, the Sicaran Venator is a purpose-built tank destroyer. It mounts the fearsome neutron laser system and the atomantic arc-reactors required to power it. The neutron laser is a formidable anti-armour weapon, and is capable of matching certain super-heavy class vehicles in firepower.

Head on over to the Forge World site for all of the details:

Forgeworld: Ferrus Manus

Forgeworld has the  next Primarch up for order: Ferrus Manus!

From Forgeworld:

The Primarch of the Iron Hands Legion, Ferrus Manus, Legion was a figure of legend amongst the peoples of his home world of Medusa, named by them ‘the Gorgon’ after the most ancient of mythic creatures. Ferrus was amongst the strongest of the Primarchs, dwarfing many of them in both strength and stature.
He was blessed of a physiology remarkable even amongst the Primarchs. His arms were sheathed in liquid metal, the result, so the legends of Medusa claim, of a battle fought against the mightiest of beasts on that world before he was re-united with the Emperor. His armour is as heavy and impenetrable as that of a super-heavy tank, yet he keeps both arms uncovered so that he might bring their full might to bear.
Ferrus Manus, designed by Simon Egan, is an amazingly detailed multi-part resin model armed with Forgebreaker and equipped with the Medusan Carapace. The latest edition to our Horus Heresy Character Series, Ferrus stands atop a scenic base depicting the carnage on Isstvan V.  Available to pre-order now, this model will be despatched from Friday 8th November.
Forgeworld keeps knocking it out of the park with the Primarchs. Which Primarch are you looking forward to the most?

2013 Indiana 40K Championship Results and Reflections

We had our inaugural Indiana 40K Championship this weekend and after several brutal matches Aarong Aleong emerged as the overall winner and is our 2013 Indiana 40K Player of the Year having won both TippCon and the 40K Championship!

Eldar and Tau in various incarnations made their presence felt at the tournament and dominated the standings. Two similar Grey Knight builds were also present with one placing 4th overall. Only one Necron player was on hand. Most armies featured allies of some sort with Eldar/Tau,  Tau/Farsight, and Eldar/Dark Eldar to name a few. One Chaos Marine and one Codex Marine player were in attendance. Noticeably absent were Orks, Sisters, Imperial Guard, Tyranids, Space Wolves, Dark Angels, and Blood Angels. Among the popular armies there were several Wraithknights and Riptides which seemed to be on nearly every table.

We faced a few last minute setbacks with the event. First and foremost was a combination of several no-shows and some drops in the last few days leading up to the event due to work and/or family-related issues. This significantly impacted the field as our field of nearly thirty dropped to 12 the day of the event. Compounding matters were issues with the hotel 'owner' at our venue. I will not go into details but suffice it to say that the unprofessional manner in which this person acted resulted in two players choosing to no play through the event as they were extremely upset at being addressed in the manner they were by said 'owner.' I did not want to cancel the event after all of the work that was put into it, and the fact that we had players who drove from as many as 4 hours away and had booked rooms for the weekend. We decided to relocate to our local game store for day 2 as we will no longer patronize that hotel for any and all future events. Aside from these hiccups, everything ran rather smoothly.

I greatly appreciate everyone who made it out to the tournament and I really appreciate the great feedback from the players which we will use to improve future events. I also want to give a special mention to Torrent of Fire for setting up our tournament with the excellent event managed software as this helped eliminate tedious paperwork and made registration and pairings a snap. If you are not using Torrent of Fire for your events then you are really missing out! Speaking of ToF, click here for the final standings.

Also, a special shout out goes to Chris Vinton and Jesse Zischke for their help in promoting the event up in Michigan! We look forward to sending some Indiana players up for your events. Last but not least, thanks to Justin Ankeney for filling in as a ringer for a few rounds and Chris Keimig for coming in early and staying late to make sure the event could finish properly on Sunday!

With this year's IndyOpen, TippCon, and 40K Championship now in the books it is time to look forward to next year as the first full season of the Indiana tournament circuit will kick off with the inaugural FrostyCon early next year in Indianapolis. Stay tuned for details! Who will be the next to immortalize their name on the Indiana 40K Cup?
